19 WUKU TAMBIR

    OVERVIEW

Dual nature, calm demeanor but internally driven. Strong determination and leadership qualities. Frugal, arrogant, uncanny intuition, mysterious and secretive.

    ABOUT

Wuku Tambir, derived from the name of Raden Tambir, the seventeenth offspring of Prabu Watugunung and Dewi Sinta, carries a deep connection to Javanese mythology. Raden Tambir, blessed with a twin brother, Raden Medangkungan. Although Raden Tambir is the twin brother of Raden Medangkungan, their intrinsic natures and the trajectories of their destinies may diverge significantly.

The presiding deity is Batara Siwa. Known in wayang tradition as Batara Guru or Sang Hyang Manikmaya, Batara Siwa embodies wisdom, authority, and divine guidance. These qualities resonate deeply in the characteristics of those born during Wuku Tambir, as described in the Javanese Primbon.

Individuals born under Wuku Tambir are noted for their strong and resolute character. They display an unshakable conviction in their beliefs, projecting a commanding presence that often captures the trust and admiration of others. However, this same presence can also be perceived as arrogance, particularly when their focus shifts toward self-centered matters. Their influence is likened to that of a wild elephant breaking free from its enclosure: imposing yet not overwhelming, exuding power and respect without veering into excess.

One of their most notable traits is their financial acumen. They are meticulous and frugal, demonstrating exceptional skill in managing resources. While their carefulness enables them to save effectively, it can also make them appear miserly or excessively thrifty. This reluctance to share and their tendency to prioritize personal needs over others may be viewed as a flaw. Nevertheless, this financial prudence reflects their strategic thinking and practical mindset.

The inner nature of Wuku Tambir individuals often contrasts sharply with their outward demeanor. Externally, they may appear polished or restrained, exuding calmness and modesty. Internally, however, they harbor a deep desire for control and possession, driven by an intense and insatiable ambition. Their passionate and enigmatic speech adds to their mystique, often leaving listeners intrigued yet confounded. Their ability to conceal true intentions further enhances their complexity, making it challenging for others to discern their genuine motives.

Gifted with extraordinary intuition, they have a rare ability to perceive the unseen and understand deeper truths. Despite their financial intelligence and potential for material gain, they are often untouched by wealth's allure. Instead, they choose a life of measured sufficiency, using their resources wisely while maintaining an aura of reverence and dignity in their words and actions.

The symbolic representation of Wuku Tambir is the Upas Tree (Antiaris toxicaria). Known for its highly toxic sap historically used to coat arrows, the tree symbolizes duality—danger and utility. While its sap is lethal, its wood was traditionally employed for practical purposes, such as making clothing. This duality mirrors the characteristics of Wuku Tambir individuals, who can seem intimidating yet are resourceful and valuable contributors in the right circumstances.

NOTE: It is important to recognize that the wuku topic and the symbols mentioned in this post represent a blend of Javanese and Balinese beliefs and culture.

Some believe that the wuku exerts a more precise influence on an individual's personality. However, my observations and analysis of characters based on the wuku and other related categories of the Javanese calendar suggest that whether individuals born under a particular wuku will fully exhibit the traits of their protector also hinges on other categorizations determined by their date of birth, time of birth and place of birth.
