14 WUKU MANDASIYA @ MEDANGSIA

    OVERVIEW

A patient and virtuous individual, he serves as a devoted protector, driven by deep affection. While frugal and efficient, his rapid pace often leads to impatience. Though compassionate, his temper can turn ruthless when provoked.

    ABOUT

Wuku Mandasiya derives its name from the offspring of Prabu Watugunung and Dewi Sinta. Raden Mandasiya is the twin brother of Raden Langkir and is considered the twelfth child.

The characteristics, fortunes, demeanor, and disposition of Wuku Mandasiya, or Medangsia, as per the Javanese primbon, align with the attributes of Batara Brahma.

They are characterized by unwavering resolve and strength, standing as protectors for those in need. Their steadfast nature positions them as guardians within their community, driven by a profound sense of responsibility. In their professional lives, they excel through agility, heightened responsibility, and exceptional efficiency. They are swift in their endeavors and demonstrate prudence in managing resources, balancing hard work with frugality.

These individuals are often generous and philanthropic, particularly when their efforts are recognized, and they enjoy abundant fortune. Their hearts, however, reflect a duality. While they are patient and virtuous, capable of deep affection, they can also be ruthless when enraged and struggle to forgive those who wrong them. Their strong moral principles and sense of justice can sometimes make them inflexible.

    THE GUARDIAN (DEITY)

    Batara Brahma

Batara Brahma in Balinese and Javanese Concept.

In Bali, Deity Brahma is believed to be the god of the kitchen, the sovereign and protector of the southern direction.

This deity wields a mace, rides a swan, and is endowed with the power of Dewi Saraswati. His signature red attributes symbolize strength and a fervent spirit.

In the ritual worship within traditional Balinese villages, Deity Brahma is venerated at Pura Desa or Pura Bale Agung, where structures made of brick stand as a tribute to his honor.

Regionally, the worship of Deity Brahma is predominantly situated at Pura Luhur Andakasa.

In the sacred text of the Bhagavad Gita, Deity Brahma is acknowledged as the creator of the universe, who brought forth all things through the blessings of the Supreme God (Brahman).

In Javanese wayang, Batara Brahma is depicted as the son of Batara Guru and is revered as the god of fire as well as a masterful commander in battle.

Balancing hard work with frugality and generosity, they are often admired for their efficiency and philanthropic spirit, especially when their efforts are acknowledged.

Ultimately, their steadfast guardianship and dedication to justice position them as respected and integral figures within their circles.

NOTE: It is important to recognize that the wuku topic and the symbols mentioned in this post represent a blend of Javanese and Balinese beliefs and culture.

Some believe that the wuku exerts a more precise influence on an individual's personality. However, my observations and analysis of characters based on the wuku and other related categories of the Javanese calendar suggest that whether individuals born under a particular wuku will fully exhibit the traits of their protector also hinges on other categorizations determined by their date of birth, time of birth and place of birth.
