OVERVIEW
THE 27 SHUKU
In Japanese astrology, Shukuyō, there are 27 Shuku (constellations) used in the system.
These Shuku are organized into four main groupings:
- The 4 Directions category
- The 12 Zodiac Signs category
- The 7 Types category
- The 7 Days category
THE 4 DIRECTIONS CATEGORY
Each group contains 7 shuku, with the exception of the North Group. In total, there are 28 shuku, but only 27 are actively utilized. The one not represented here is the Gyu shuku, also known as Abhijit in Vedic astrology, situated within the Capricorn constellation. It is associated with the North direction and belongs to the Black Tortoise Mansion.
THE 12 ZODIAC SIGNS CATEGORY
The twelve houses are categorized based on the sun's ecliptic orbit, with six houses associated with the sun (yang attributes) and six houses linked to the moon (yin attributes).
The Yang Group
- Leo (Lion)
- Virgo (Maiden)
- Libra (Scale)
- Scorpio (Scorpion)
- Sagittarius (Bow)
- Capricorn (Mill)
The Yin Group
- Aquarius (Jar)
- Pisces (Fish)
- Aries (Goat)
- Taurus (Ox)
- Gemini (Twin)
- Cancer (Crab)
NOTE: For clarity, the zodiac signs are presented according to Western astrology. However, it should be noted that the Shukuyo Sutra's zodiac signs differ from both the Western zodiac and its 12 signs.
ARIES (GOAT)
It is a palace responsible for human resources, apt for food and culinary-related tasks, and excels in business. It embodies greater merit, perseverance, caution, as well as health and longevity.
TAURUS (OX)
The Pleiades are associated with wealth, numerous friendships, respect from others, and longevity. They are deemed favorable for careers in agriculture and animal husbandry that employ many workers. While typically indicating a shorter lifespan, hard work can lead to good health. However, caution is advised in middle age due to potential respiratory illnesses.
GEMINI (TWIN)
This placement is responsible for overseeing descendants. They will foster numerous relationships and nurture many children. There is also the presence of debauchery, which demands self-discipline. Being tenacious and adept at internal control, they are well-suited for administrative or secretarial roles. There is a belief that being born on a Saturday could lead to wealth.
CANCER (CRAB)
It is often described as a placement that overseeing government and speech, apt for roles in reporting and debate, making careers in communication and persuasion ideal (such as spokespersons, lawyers, parliamentarians, spokesperson, attorney, legislator, etc.), benefits from the use of articulate words and sound arguments. Using words for positive purposes is commendable but employing them for malevolent ends leads to deception and intellectual crimes. Arrogance may hinder submission to others; thus, it is crucial to focus on collaboration.
LEO (LION)
Brave, authoritative, and strategic, these traits are well-suited for roles such as soldiers before the war and bureaucrats who value the hierarchy and adherence to rules. Such positions often lead to promotions and honors. This character embodies the human virtue that nurtures growth. However, the drawbacks include impatience and a short temper. There's a preference for meat, which may pose a risk of a shortened lifespan. It is believed that being born at sunrise on a Sunday destines one to become a "general."
VIRGO (MAIDEN)
This position is especially favorable for women. For men, they may appear gentle outwardly, yet they often keep their true feelings hidden, making them hard to comprehend. Some may have ulterior motives and cunning traits. This placement is apt for roles in officialdom and advising women. It brings financial fortune but also a predisposition to illness, particularly eye diseases. Those born on a Thursday are believed to avoid calamities and lead a joyful life.
LIBRA (SCALE)
They possess integrity, a sense of justice, and financial management skills, making them well-suited for roles in accounting and related fields.
SCORPIO (SCORPION)
There are stages of deep-seated issues, clustering, and core problems, along with various illnesses and fragile existences. These issues may stem from a nature prone to jealousy and a tendency to scorn others maliciously, hence the need to develop and nurture a "heart of tolerance." Similarly, as powerful medicines can sometimes heal ailments, we should harness their strength for positive outcomes. Hence, it is well-suited for medical professions such as doctors, nurses, and pharmacists.
SAGITTARIUS (BOW)
They are strategic, confident, and well-liked, possessing the ability to surmount challenges and attain their objectives. Despite having acquired wealth and success, yet their connections with family and relatives are fragile, often leading to a sense of loneliness.
CAPRICORN (MILL)
This placement governs conflict characterized by a grumpy and cold temperament, with no affection for family members. They possess a tough heart and a distant demeanor. It is apt for judicial roles, particularly in overseeing criminal punishment. Those born on Saturday night are often morally driven, seeking inspiration and possessing the potential to become leaders.
AQUARIUS (JAR)
Strive to fortify your luck and triumph in all challenges. Loyalty, virtue, and knowledge may bring fame and fortune. However, their inability to retain wealth for extended periods suggests they are better suited for academia than commerce. It is said that those born on a Saturday night are destined to reach high positions of honor.
(Author's note: Every lawful occupation holds honor, whether it be that of a lawyer, doctor, garbage collector, or farmer. Without farmers, other professionals, including doctors and lawyers, would struggle to perform their duties, as farmers nourish all societal classes. Similarly, without garbage collectors, we would reside amidst refuse and filth. Farmers are akin to the roots of a tree; without them, the tree's crown would wither, and the tree itself would collapse. Thus, it is crucial to respect each individual's role and occupation within society, regardless of the nature of their work.)
PISCES (FISH)
Success is often attained by securing a public role, particularly in fields related to history or writing. Successful individuals in these areas are typically educated, diligent, loyal, honest, and reliable. Moreover, they possess a strong work ethic, which is sometimes considered fortunate, especially for those born on Thursdays or Fridays.
(Author's note: There are no inherently good or bad stars; each possesses its own set of positive and negative attributes. Similarly, a kitchen knife can be utilized to prepare food and satisfy hunger, or it can be wielded to harm someone. Ultimately, it is the person holding the knife who passes the judgement.)
