The Wuku Medangkungan derives its name from the son of King Watugunung and Goddess Sinta, being the eighteenth in the sequence. Raden Medangkungan is the twin brother of Raden Tambir. Although Raden Medangkungan is the twin brother of Raden Tambir, their intrinsic natures and the trajectories of their destinies may diverge significantly.
In Javanese mythology, the deity Batara Basuki reigns over Wuku Medangkungan, epitomizing unwavering acceptance of destiny, representing loyalty, success, and pride in accomplishments, and symbolizing the possibility of achieving great success in life.

Batara Basuki transforms into the heroic spirit of Prabu Baladewa/Kakrasana, the king of Mandura, with a fair complexion, symbolizing purity or safety. Free from all evil and wrongdoing, he embodies the essence of innocence and salvation. Batara Basuki's transformation into Prabu Baladewa's body serves as a reward for the good deeds performed by Prabu Baladewa, who had previously saved Batara Basuki from death in Krendayana forest. With Batara Basuki's presence, Prabu Baladewa is spared from family conflicts that ravaged Bharatayuda.
