THE HISTORY
Approximately 3,000 years ago, a monk named Xuanzang journeyed from China to India to study Buddhism. During his travels, he learned a sutra and upon his return to China, this knowledge evolved into what is known as Chinese Shukuyo.
Subsequently, Kobo Daishi Kukai, the progenitor of Shingon Esoteric Buddhism, journeyed to China as an emissary of the Tang Dynasty 1,200 years ago, returning with numerous Buddhist artifacts, including scriptures. Among these was the Sutra of SHukuyo. He diligently incorporated Shukuyo into his daily practices and imparted its teachings to his disciples. In the Heian period, he accomplished significant feats by integrating Shukuyo with the five elements and the twelve zodiac signs, executing advanced practices and confidential techniques of that era.
The Shukuyo Sutra has been applied in diverse contexts over time, and its high accuracy led the Tokugawa shogunate to seal it during the Edo period. As time progressed, the Sutra underwent a reevaluation as a form of astrology post-Meiji era, and it has recently started to garner interest once again.
WHAT IS SHUKUYO ASTROLOGY
Shukuyo or Sukuyou is a Japanese divination style derived from an Indian method. It offers insights into one's personality, skills, and social tendencies, as well as daily luck and relationship compatibility. Notably, its accuracy in assessing personal relationships and compatibility is considered high compared to other divination forms.
The technique utilizes the moon's 27.3-day cycle, dividing it into 27 Shuku (lunar mansions/constellations) based on the moon's position, which can forecast fortunes and provide character insights. It aligns with Japan's ancient lunar calendar.
This divination system categorizes a person's personality into 27 Shuku (lunar mansions/constellations) based on their birth date. It further refines this information according to the day of the week, the yearly horoscope, the daily horoscope, and the type of divination used. This method provides deep insights into an individual's character, talents, and social interactions, as well as its influence on personal relationships and daily fortunes. Notably, in fortune-telling and phase divination, it is considered to be more accurate than other divination methods.
Unlike Western astrology, which focuses on the sun's movements and offers a general overview of a person's character and fortune, Japanese astrology is thought to provide a more profound exploration of an individual's inner self and emotions.
Japanese astrology is characterized by 12 lunar zodiac signs, providing a distinct viewpoint compared to the 12 solar-based zodiac signs found in Western astrology.
Moreover, Japanese astrology's 27 Shuku are categorized into four groups corresponding to the cardinal directions: east, west, south, and north.
- Northern Seven Star Shuku (Black Tortoise)
- Eastern Seven Star Shuku (Azure Dragon)
- Western Seven Star Shuku (White Tiger)
- Southern Seven Star Shuku (Vermilion or Red Bird)
Japanese astrology, similar to other forms of astrology, serves as a tool for comprehending the human condition. It is not intended to dictate a person's destiny. Regardless of the fortune that influences you or the star under which you are born, life is shaped by one's own actions.
Understanding and harnessing the unique peculiarities and special traits of your star sign can greatly benefit your life, serving as a wellspring of vitality.
Once you understand the type of astral influence affecting you, utilize it to analyze yourself. You are the facilitator of your own problem-solving process.
It is not only applicable for divining the level of compatibility in areas like love and marriage, but also for diverse facets of organization and management.
